t different times in the history in man God sends one of his own to do his bidding. Israel's bondage in Egypt was one of those times. During their long and hard servitude to Pharaoh a deliverer named Moses arose. Moses was tasked with the job of bringing God's people to the Promised Land to serve him. When Pharaoh wouldn't let the Israelites leave God sent plagues on Egypt to force his will on them. Even though the Jews wanted their freedom from slavery and wanted to serve God they did just the opposite. Right after they received their independence they began to go astray.

Ecclesiastes 6 verse 2; "A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth and honor so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth". In other words, they just plain forgot about God's will.

In the third month of the exodus the children of Israel arrived at Mount Sinai. This is the mount where God gave man the statutes and judgments that should be followed even unto this day. Prior to Moses receiving the Ten Commandments of God the children of Israel heard them and agreed to follow them. The covenant or agreement was confirmed in Exodus 24. Once again as in so many other instances Israel did not hold up their end of the commitment. One of the commandments strictly stated that no man shall make any graven image and worship it. While Moses tarried in the mount the children of Israel made a golden calf and worshipped it as God. This golden calf was made by Aaron and all the other Jews who days before had made a covenant with God that they would follow his statutes and judgments. At this point Moses is told by God to come down from the mountain for thy people have corrupted themselves.

When Moses sees what's going on he breaks the two stone tablets containing the Ten Commandments and prays for Israel's forgiveness. God replies to Moses that he will one day visit Israel's sin upon them; Exodus 32:34.

This one event is the whole reason for Israel's problems. They broke God's law and God passed judgment. Ezekiel chapter 20 explains in detail the reason for God's punishment of Israel. Ezekiel 20:25 says that God gave Israel statutes and judgments that they SHOULD NOT LIVE BY. This is also the plague set forth in Exodus 32:35. Aaron the Levite who made the calf of gold for the Jews and caused the first covenant to be broken also brought about the law's of sacrifice. These laws are laws that Israel should not live by and are found in the book of Leviticus. God does not require the sacrifice of animals for any reason. JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD AND IS GOD…

Ecclesiastes 12:13; "Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the Whole duty of man".
